The arrival of butter chicken to mainstream culture is upon us with more people discovering the delicious Indian delicacy each day. This dish has also been widely used by fast food giants as a way to bring a bit of an exotic flavour to everyday dishes, some examples of these dishes being made for the masses include the butter chicken pizza implemented by Pizza Hut or the Butter Chicken Poutine created by Smoke's Poutinerie. The History of Butter Chicken The dish has its roots in Punjabi cuisine. It was developed by an Indian, Kundan Lal Gujral, a Punjabi Hindu restaurateur, who was the founder of Moti Mahal Delux restaurant in Delhi, India. The dish was invented by Gujral at his restaurant in Delhi in 1950's. The dish was deduced by mixing the leftover chicken in a tomato gravy, rich in butter and cream and served as such. How did such a Delicious Dish become so Popular ? The answer to that could be simple, with foodie culture growing to astronomical levels the desire for newer and more exotic tastes allow different cultures to showcase their best dishes and hence the Butter Chicken has gained the fame it deserves. With all that rich delicious creaminess in one bite, who can resist the call of the Butter Chicken.
